According to a research report compiled by the Harvard Medical School, acupuncture can effectively reduce long-term neck and back pain, arthritis pain, headaches, and shoulder pain by more than 50%.
In addition to the aforementioned pain conditions, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture treatment often provides rapid relief for long-term musculoskeletal pain such as plantar fasciitis, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, knee problems, and more. The effects of these treatments can generally be maintained for a long time, unless the patient suffers another injury, and are often more significant compared to commonly used painkillers or anti-inflammatory medications.
A randomized, single-blind, controlled trial report published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States found that, in a clinical study involving 270 tension headache patients, 46% of those who received acupuncture treatment experienced a significant improvement of more than half, while only 4% of patients who did not receive acupuncture had the same degree of improvement.
